Back from Vacation!

Hello All!

Sorry for the brief interruption, but we were on VACATION!!! Yipee!!! Katie and Cindy were in Seattle, WA and I was in San Diego, CA. We will get back into our groove her shortly! In the mean time, please enjoy some pictures! Man Candy Monday will return next week!

We Are Loved ~ Cherry on Top Award

One of our new bloggie buddies just gave us an award and we feel so honored that some one loves us! It's the "Cherry on Top" award for beautiful blogs with that little bit extra. We are just tickled pink! We received this award from Jill over at Strawberry Freckles.  She is a fabulous blogger.  Her blog boosts her as a, "Plus sized momma who is getting healthy and writing a book, one dimply freckle at a time".  Writing a book! WOW!

I immediately connected with her because we are both mommas to toddler boys, and we are both struggling to stick to a healthier lifestyle, and lose out "plus" status...lol! We also both experienced a difficult start to motherhood with our babies having to stay in the hospital while we left. So, that's that.  Jill is fun and a great read, check her out!

On to the award...I have to answer this short list of questions and BAM! done =)

1) I am organized! Yup, my dad taught me, "A place for everything and everything in it's place"
2) I love to be with my family...all of my family!
3) I have been best buddies with my BFF's since we were babies and I think that's an accomplishment!

1/2 Marathon #2 COMPLETED!

Yup- WE, yes all three of us, and a few others, completed our second 1/2 Marathon! I am crazy, I know.  Why would someone do that you say? Well, It is such a gratifying experience.  The sense of accomplishment is AMAZING.  I literally start crying at mile 13 and don't stop till after I cross the finish line and collect all my goodies (bananas, water, apple...you know, stuff to put in my body so I don't pass out!). 
Now, I am not crying because of pain, I am crying because I made it.  Me, Denice, a 34 year old, over weight mom of 2...I DID IT! That's why I am crying.

I AM:

• Amazed that I trained for this
• Amazed that I had the mental power to keep going  after mile 8
• Amazed that I have completed something many people never dream of doing
• Amazed that I did not pass out (or barf)
• Amazed that I did not injure myself
• Amazed that I have the strength to carry myself 13.1 miles

1. Who is your style icon?
I really never thought of myself as having style! I have always loved the look of Posh Spice herself, Mrs. Victoria Beckham, but I know I could never achieve that! So... I love the classic style of Reese Witherspoon.
2. What is your favorite socialite lit book?
I have not read any lately! I have a 1 year old that I chase around all day, so I'm open to any suggestions =)

3. Favorite party theme?
I would have to say Famous Couples. It's fun to see who people dress up as. (Yes, that is Hubby and I back in our college days!)

4. Go to Halloween costume?
Anything you can do as DEAD. I don't know why and I have never dressed up as a dead person, but if your make up is done right, it looks amazing!

5. Extravagance you cannot live without?
Getting my hair done. It makes me feel pretty and kept. I have had the same gal for YEARS, she's my buddy. I can't live with out her. In fact, she designs smocks for stylist, so check out her site: Hairwearsmocks.com.

6. Living person you admire?
Three actually. My sister because she is the worlds best mom and all around good person, and my Mom & Dad because they taught me to be the person I am today.


7. Greatest fear?
My food touching...lame I know, but it totally grosses me out!

8. Trait you deplore in yourself?
Sometimes I am TOO honest and don't know when to keep my mouth shut.

9. Which talent would you most like to have?
Public speaking. I wish I had the gift of gab =)

10. Greatest achievement?

He's Here!

So I had the baby on March 20. He is a beautiful, healthy baby. We named him Cooper Gregory Castillo. He is perfect...if only he would sleep!

Now that my life is somewhat returning to normal, I will be returning to writing regular post on KDC!! Thanks for being patient.

M.I.A- SORRY!

OK, so I know we have been M.I.A. It's all this pregnancy's fault...it has been a killer on me. Even though I am at home, I find it very difficult to concentrate on doing anything! I hope to get back on track soon, I promise!

Baby Update

So my doctor took me out of work for a few weeks. I have been having some really debilitating headaches, and my blood pressure is too low. Weird, I know. So, I am at home resting...and I love it. I get to spend time with my son, who is 5, and it is great!

I go for my next ultrasound the first week of November. Hopefully baby cooperates and lets us see if its a boy or a girl. We are thinking PINK!!!

8/8/08 ~ Lucky Wedding Day!

Many couples are rushing to the alter today to get married. Why? you ask... it's a lucky day! Asians who observe Chinese numerology, feel that the lucky number eight means wealth and prosperity (hence why the Olymipcs are opening tonight).

Also, couples who are not familiar with Chinese numerology look at days like 8-8-08 as a date that is more memorable than others.

So for all you luck one's getting married today, we say CONGRATS!! Please feel free th share your special day with us!

3. I am missing 3 internal body parts: Tonsils, Appendix and Gallbladder! My staff says I am a walking miracle (thanks Chuck)!
4. I have worked at the same place since I was a freshman in high school (yes that is over 13 years, but it is with my family).
5. I absolutely can not eat any type of meat on a bone- so NO hot wings or ribs for me!
6. If my food touches on a plate, I am done eating...I like my food separate- no mingling!

I just received this fabulous bracelet from Avon. It is the Woman's Empowerment Bracelet and it's purpose is to help raise funds to stop the violence against women around the world.

Avon, along with their Global Ambassador, Reese Witherspoon, and UNIFEM are trying to raise funds to help bring awareness to this global problem. The bracelets will sell for $3 each and all net profits will be donated to the Avon Empowerment Fund. In 2008, the Avon Foundation will match the first $500,000 in bracelet sales for a total donation of $1 million for new grant-making by the UN Trust Fund.
