Anyone Who Folds A Thousand Origami Cranes Will Be Granted A Wish

My friend Stephanie over at Thoughts from Cali shared this with me and I am passing it along. It is for a great cause. Please help out if you can!

It is said that anyone who folds a thousand origami cranes will be granted a wish.

I want to take this time to feature a very special little girl. Her name is Lizzie, she is 9 years old.

You see her little sister has to have her sugar levels checked in fear of diabetes. After hearing the news of a close friend who was diagnosed with Diabetes Lizzie decided she wants to help, raise money to find a cure.

For every dollar that is donated to Cranes 4 a Cure Lizzie will make a crane and put the name of the person who donated on the wing. Once she has collected $1000 she will string all the cranes together and give it to the Juvenile Diabetes foundation with all the money she has raised.

If you'd like to donate, please visit Cranes 4 a Cure or for more information you can email Lizzie's mommy, Jenny, at cranes4acure@gmail.com.

Watch Lizzie's T.V. interview here: http://www.weartv.com/newsroom/features/angels/videos/vid_202.shtml?sms_ss=blogger&at_xt=4db98bdcab3c6688%2C1

Thanks for sharing Steph!

March of Dimes ~ Prematurity Awareness Month®

November is Prematurity Awareness Month, and people can learn more about the seriousness of premature birth, donate, or create a virtual band to celebrate, honor or remember a baby in their life at the March of Dimes web site.
On November 17, the March of Dimes will mark the 8th annual Prematurity Awareness Day by issuing its 2010 Premature Birth Report Card, which grades the nation and the states on their preterm birth rates.

March of Dimes Prematurity Awareness Day® is sponsored by CIGNA, FedEx, Destination Maternity and Hologic. On Nov. 17, Farmers Insurance, a March of Dimes sponsor, is sponsoring a six-hour marathon of the Discovery Health series NICU, which shows the experiences of babies fighting for their lives in a newborn intensive care unit.

As part of Prematurity Awareness Month®, March of Dimes staff and volunteers nationwide will host vigils, and light buildings in purple to draw attention to the epidemic of preterm birth. The March of Dimes also has been working with organizations in Africa, Australia and Europe that are raising awareness about the consequences of preterm births.

If you are interested in getting involved, there are many ways. Check out their web site, Facebook or Twitter for more information.

Gold Canyon Teams Up with Jimmy Wayne

Gold Canyon Teams Up with Jimmy Wayne with Project Meet Me Halfway

Gold Canyon is supporting Jimmy Wayne in his cause with the sale of a limited edition 16 oz. Meet Me Halfway candle. $5 of every Meet Me Halfway candle goes to benefit the project that assists various organizations working with homeless children and teens. Jimmy specifically selected his personal favorite of Cinnamon Vanilla for his candle, and it also features a special label with his picture. This limited edition candle (#11091) will retail for US $20.00

Jimmy began Project Meet Me Halfway to raise awareness of the fact that too many youth—especially those that are aging out of the foster care system—are facing circumstances similar to those he faced. (Jimmy himself was in foster care and homeless as a teen until a loving couple took him in).

If you are interested in helping this cause, contact me or visit my Gold Canyon Web Site to order, just reference item #11091.

Avon's Mission ~ Empower Women

I just received this fabulous bracelet from Avon. It is the Woman's Empowerment Bracelet and it's purpose is to help raise funds to stop the violence against women around the world.

Avon, along with their Global Ambassador, Reese Witherspoon, and UNIFEM are trying to raise funds to help bring awareness to this global problem. The bracelets will sell for $3 each and all net profits will be donated to the Avon Empowerment Fund. In 2008, the Avon Foundation will match the first $500,000 in bracelet sales for a total donation of $1 million for new grant-making by the UN Trust Fund.

"One out of every three women in the world is affected by domestic violence. I am proud to be a part of this Summit, and I support Avon and UNIFEM wholeheartedly in their efforts to put an end to this global epidemic, and as honorary chair of the Avon Foundation, I'm also very excited to introduce the Avon Women's Empowerment Bracelet." ~ Reese Witherspoon

So, do you have yours? If not, get one! It is a simple way to help other women around the world.

Need an idea of who to buy them for: Your mother, you sister, your friends, YOUR BRIDESMAIDS!!!

Contact your local Avon representative, or go directly to the AVON website.
